Workgroup Overview

Simplified how hotel accounting (back-office) systems talk with hotel systems (PMS, POS) so that hotels can more easily post batches to accounting systems. The workgroup created a generic interface between various hotel systems such as PMS, POS, spa, golf, and sales/catering and financial accounting systems and also produced a specification for general ledger transactions. The most current work includes messages to support the transmission of Accounts Payable transactions.

Business Benefits

  • Provision of a standard specification, implementation guidelines, and mapping guidelines for integrating hotel systems to financial accounting (back office) systems, enabling out-of-the-box integration between front office and back office systems
  • Expanded data visibility and transaction detail for the various hotel systems
  • A robust, secure, and standardized interface that supports corporate governance efforts

Key Milestones

  • Produced a certifiable specification handling General Ledger transactions – completed March 2009
  • Produced a certifiable specification to allow for travel agent commissions payments - completed October 2011

Status

The workgroup is currently retired, and thus, not meeting regularly.

      • The WSDL for the HTNG Back Office Integration System web services currently defines operations related to the posting of General Ledger transaction data. Previous specifications defined additional web methods for a single web service with a common type system but this document is taking the approach that each type of web method should be implemented in a separate web service without a common type system. This will allow vendors and customers to implement only those services that they need and allow for greater specificity in the design of the services described by the specification.
