Team Summary

The Food and Beverage Ordering Team, part of the historic Property Web Services Workgroup, aimed to create, validate and refine a set of message specifications that allow a device to communicate with a POS system in order to create a F&B order in a POS system, to update an existing order, to receive status information, to update menu information from the POS system and to manage payment methods (Cash / CC / PMS). Devices can be interactive menu boards, in-room TVs, self service terminals, mobile devices used by guests, websites, IP phones in guest rooms or similar units.

Key Milestone

  • Produced a certifiable specification, part 7 of the Property Web Services 2008B Specifications - completed September 2008

Status

The Food & Beverage Ordering Team is retired however, looking to recharter. The workgroup would like to address implementer feedback and complete a new spec.

    • Defines the communication between traditional POS systems and ordering devices throughout the hotel property. Standardizes the web service interface and messages in order for these devices to create, update and split F&B orders, as well as to receive important menu configuration information from the POS.
