Workgroup Overview

This group enhanced and simplied the connectivity of POS systems to PMSs. It has defined standard interfaces between POS and PMS systems to allow any POS (or other system) to look up guest information from any PMS and post charges to guest folios, and also allows this while the PMS is offline or unreachable. PMSs are able to provide line-item check detail from any POS system. End-of-day reporting process is synchronized to ensure that accounts balance, even if the date-roll needs to occur at different times in the POS vs. PMS. This workgroup also addressed many loyalty aspects, including: allowing for guests to pay for purchases using loyalty points, translating value between points and merchandise dollar value, allowing guests to use loyalty points and/or vouchers in lieu of or in conjunction with cash payments for goods or services and enabling loyalty balance inquiries from the POS (or other) system and enable loyalty accounts to be associated with transactions to accurately track purchases made by the loyalty program member.
