Workgroup Overview

This workgroup will improve a hotel’s ability to efficiently and securely handle virtual and other non-card present based payments by developing systematic ways to allow the hotel to easily identify different types of payments.

Business Problem

There is neither a way for hotels to distinguish virtual credit cards (and other card not-present situations) from traditional ones, nor a systematic way to communicate the business rules, payment instructions, terms and conditions of using them. This results in inefficiencies, security and PCI compliance issues, declined payments, poor customer check-in experience and additional back office processing.

Outcomes

The workgroup will improve a hotel’s ability to efficiently and securely handle virtual and other non-card present based payments by:

  • Developing systematic ways to allow the hotel to easily identify different types of payments (i.e. traditional card, virtual card, central billing).
  • Developing systematic ways to communicate the business rules and payment instructions for the transaction.
  • Developing accompanying best practices/recommendations for hotel use.
